Join us Thursday, October 1st at Prairie Underground’s Pioneer Square Pop-Up for the final round of the Glove Legging rework. Since 2023, Seattle artist/designer Janelle Abbott (JRAT) has been reworking Prairie Underground “Glove Leggings”, accidentally manufactured in the wrong textile, into new and versatile garments. In this, the third and final iteration, Janelle has finally used up the last of the leggings resulting in a classic “buy now or buy never” shopping event!
About: Raised in her parents’ Seattle clothing factory, Janelle Abbott (JRAT) developed an early respect for the labor behind every stitch. After graduating from Parsons, she rejected corporate fashion, choosing a radically sustainable, zero-waste path. Through her brand JRAT and Wardrobe Therapy, she transforms discarded materials into rhythmic, layered, unapologetic garments. Her work merges activism, art, and performance—a form of labor solidarity, she exposes fast fashion’s farce through garment reclamation, reminding us that all garments are human artifacts.
